I'm looking at these for my startup also, and am having trouble keeping track of them all. Have you tried any other ticketing systems since, such as FreshDesk or UserEcho? Although there are many other hotels that my clients could have paid for, Hampton Inn was perfect for me from check-in/check-out, customer service, double points, integration with my air-miles if I wanted. But, you know what, I remember when you and your company started and how you reached out to me personally. I wanted to use Kickoff Labs but simply did not implement it. Now that it's time for me to do my startup, I immediately thought of you guys and see how much you have grown. Your blog is about Hampton (Hilton) & my comments are about Josh (Kickoff Labs). Two great companies. Looking forward to working with Kickoff Labs.

Re: The best customer support tools for Startups in 2012

Have you tried Casengo? its a new kid on the customer support tool block. it has a nice design and great usability. Sometimes customers (or prospects) are just as confused/ annoyed/ hungry/ tired but instead of whining they move on to the next vendor. A wonderfully written blog post, and thanks for sharing some adorable Gabe anecdotes & photos! I'll never look at peas & carrots the same way again. :)

Re: My toddler perfects your sales pitch

listen first, talk second, preferably in a story that has her in it. get on your knees and look directly in her eyes, let her know you see her. have fun whenever possible. Don't know about others but I'm always looking for 'pearls of wisdom' surrounding launching and sustaining my company.

That notwithstanding, I do have to disagree with the last comment. Although neither of us can really say this with any certainty or authority but I think that dogs do learn and know "how" they get the treat. Which is the primary way dogs are trained; a reward at the end of every job well done. I am not sure they really catch on to the concept of 'a rule of thumb' and that is to - 'obey' and you'll be rewarded. So they learn each task which they know is followed by a treat or a stern warning with the owner/trainer shaking their finger vigorously at them in a loud tone that is not followed by a pat on the head, petting of any kind or a treat.

But, like I said, I'm not a dog trainer nor an expert on canine psych, so can't say it with any authority but that's just my observation/analysis. It's also possible that what you meant to really say was that "they don't care whatever they need to do to get the treat as long as they get the treat" in which case it would mean that if the 'problem' and the 'solution' is simply, clearly but adequately addressed then the user will not care what they will need to do/learn as long as your solution really solves their problem. Hmm

Re: How to do a great product promo video for less than $200

Scott - just wanted to drop a quick note that your VoiceBunny recommendation was amazing.
